Why Telehealth?
Telehealth is something that I have always believed in, even before COVID-19 when insurance companies did not cover it. Here is why:
I believe telehealth breaks down the barriers to accessing therapy. An example of this would be scheduling limitations. Teletherapy allows you to carve out 45-60 minutes of your day and not have to account for drive time.
Teletherapy also allows you to have access to therapy if you are someone with no mode of transport.
Telehealth also allows for you to sit in your safe space and do therapy where you are most comfortable.
Telehealth allows you to have access to therapy if you are someone with a physical disability who has trouble leaving the house.
I chose to open my telehealth practice because it allows me to meet you where you are in this current moment and eliminate some of the barriers of in person therapy. Telehealth can also be used as a way to get more comfortable seeking in-person therapy. I believe that both forms of therapy can be effective but personally, opening my telehealth practice has been something that I feel like has reached more people than I would have in person.
Asking for help is hard and creating a therapeutic space that allows one to access to care is one of the most important things to me as a therapist.
I truly, believe in telemedicine and all of the abilities that it has to help connect us in a time of isolation and separation.
